Delivery workers strike in Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico
Thousands of delivery-platform workers participated in a strike to protest against bad working conditions in several cities of Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico. The international strike was organised outside the traditional labor unions, and was spread through the Internet through the use of the hashtags #BrequeDosApps (Brake the apps) and #YoNoReparto (I won’t deliver). The delivery workers could organise their co-ordinated demonstration through social media. The movement gathered the highest number of workers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where 5000 workers blocked access to shopping malls, restaurant chains, and warehouses. Among their demands, they asked for places where they would be able to recharge their phones, that had bathrooms, drinking water, and lunch tables. They also demanded insurance against accidents.
