EuRIC & WEEE Forum report characterises fires caused by batteries in e-waste
The European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) and the WEEE Forum prepared a report titled ‘Characterisation of fires caused by batteries in WEEE’ with the contribution of various organisations tackling the issue of e-waste. The report aims to assess the severity of the issue.
A survey conducted among recyclers indicates an increase in fires in the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) management which is attributed to damaged batteries. Apart from survey results, the report includes a set of recommendations to further investigate some aspects that were addressed in the survey.
