European Commission launches Cybersecurity Skills Academy
The academy is a part of the European Commission’s cybersecurity package, presented on Tuesday.
The European Commission launched the Cybersecurity Skills Academy to address the ongoing skills shortage in the cybersecurity sector and develop the EU’s cyber resilience. The academy will be hosted online, enabling citizens interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity to find training and certifications from across the EU in a single place online.
The academy will evolve to include a shared space for academia, training providers and industry, helping them to coordinate education programmes, training, funding, and monitor the cybersecurity job market.
Stakeholders can express their commitment to advancing cybersecurity expertise in the EU by providing cybersecurity training and certification programmes.
The academy is part of the European Year of Skills 2023, an initiative to help workers and businesses cope with the green and digital transition. The academy is also a part of the European Commission’s cybersecurity package, presented on Tuesday, which also includes the EU Cyber Solidarity Act for an EU-wide response to cyberattacks.
