US export sanctions extended to Belarus
Strict export control restrictions were imposed on Belarus by the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), in response to its ‘substantial enabling of Russia’s further invasion of Ukraine’. According to a statement by the US Department of Commerce, the application of these controls on Belarus will help prevent the distribution of technology and software, in the defense, aerospace, and maritime sectors in Russia through Belarus, and decrease both nations’ abilities to sustain military aggression.
