Facebook faces US antitrust class action
A class action lawsuit against Facebook was filed before the US District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging that the company’s business methods aim to ditch competitors and illegally monopolise the social network market. Facebook’s practices of obtaining information from its users and selling them to third parties, including advertisers and app developers, have allegedly deterred competitors from creating their own networks. The companies that managed to build a relevant user base, such as WhatsApp and Instagram, were bought by Facebook to eliminate competition.
