Facebook VP detained in Sao Paolo over Whatsapp case
Facebook Latin America VP Diego Dzodan was detained in Sao Paolo over Whatsapp’s refusal to hand over data to the Brazilian authorities in relation to a drug trafficking case. This development follows a previous ruling in December, where the court ordered the suspension of Whatsapp across the country. Dzodan has been accused of ‘repeated non-compliance’; Facebook called the police actions ‘extreme and disproportionate’.
