Facebook will not police political ads
After long pressure on the platform for more stringent regulation of political advertising, Facebook has announced that it will not investigate the truthfulness of the political advertising as ‘people should be able to hear from those who wish to lead them, warts and all, and that what they say should be scrutinized and debated in public’ a Facebook’s representative has stated. This decision goes in the opposite direction of that of other platforms (such as twitter) which has recently decided to ban all political advertising.
