French telcos concerned about being allowed to use Huawei equipment for 5G
France is expected to have 5G available from summertime 2020, however operators are requesting confirmation from the ANSSI (French National Cybersecurity Agency) of whether they would be permitted to utilise Huawei equipment. These requests are to comply with a recent French law that mandates operators to validate with ANSSI any radio towers that operators intend to deploy. Additionally, any request that has not received a reply within two months is to be considered a refusal by ANSSI. At present, the administration has stopped replying to the requests for information about the Huawei 5G equipment which is creating anxiety amongst the operators.
