Ghana launches an online child protection reporting portal
To address issues related to child online safety, the Ministry of Communications in Ghana through the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has launched an online child protection reporting portal along with revising the National Child Online Protection framework.
Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, , stated that the Child Online Protection Reporting Portal would help receive reports of child sexual abuse materials available on the Internet; enable the NCSC to report cases to platforms such as Facebook for image takedown; and help collaboration between the national CERT and organisations such as Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). She further added that this portal will complement the points of contact (PoC) to provide a safe platform for people to report suspected child sexual abuse materials.
