Google: 97% of connections to Youtube are encrypted
Google has started adding data for Youtube and Google calendar in its Transparency Report section that highlights the use of HTTPS to encrypt connections between its users’ devices and its servers. According to this new data, HTTPS now accounts for 97% of all connections to Youtube. For Google Calendar, the percentage of HTTPS connections is 93. Google explained that YouTube hasn’t yet reached 100% because some devices do not fully support modern HTTPS. However, the company intends to gradually phase out insecure connections over time.
