Google launches projects to strengthen journalism in Brazil, combat misinformation

Google announced a series of projects to support and enhance journalism in Brazil. The initiatives focus on combating misinformation, ensuring the sustainability of journalism businesses, and providing professional training. The projects include Comprova, a fact-checking initiative in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji).
The Google for Brazil event also introduced the Innovation and Disinformation Combat Fund, which will select projects aimed at verifying online content through the development of digital tools. The Startup Labs program was presented as a pioneering project to accelerate journalistic companies and promote the growth and sustainability of online news startups.
The Google News Initiative’s Training Network for Journalists will also train 10,000 journalists, focusing on black professionals and vulnerable communities, to work effectively in the digital environment.
