Google launches USD$10 billion investment fund in India to accelerate digital services
According to a news report, Google has announced plans to invest USD$10 billion in India over the next 5 years. Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai made this known when he unveiled the Google for India Digitization Fund (GIDF) through which the company will be making the investments in the country. Google, through the investment, will focus on four main areas:
- enabling affordable access and information to every Indian in their own languages whether Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi or any other;
- building new products and services tailored to meet the unique needs of India;
- empowering businesses through their digital transformation journey; and
- leveraging on AI for social good to address challenges in areas such as health, education, and agriculture.
