Government of India suspends internet services in parts of Delhi
The government of India in a letter ordered the suspension of internet and telecommunication services in parts of the national capital, Delhi in what it describes as an action implemented in the interest of maintaining public safety and averting public emergency. The letter signed by the deputy Secretary to the government of India, Mr. Shailendra Vikram Singh, ordered the temporary suspension of internet services in the areas of Singhu, Ghazipur, and Tikri, and their adjoining areas in the NCT of Delhi from 23:00 hours on 31 January, 2021 to 23:00 hours on 2 February, 2021. The government further stated that it’s action was backed by law through the power conferred under Sub-rule 1 of Rule 2 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) rules 2017.
