GSMA releases mobile for humanitarian innovation annual report
GSMA published its annual report on mobile for humanitarian innovation which outlines the progress made by the GSMA’s Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation (M4H) programme and their partners in 2019. The programme supports stakeholders in building an inclusive, digitally-enabled humanitarian future in which mobile and digital solutions provide greater access to services, information, and choice for people that could be, or already are, affected by crisis. To this aim, the report showcases key achievements, trends that influence the sector, insights and outcomes of pertinent research, advocacy efforts, partnership projects, and the M4H Innovation Fund. Among the key achievements in 2019 was the grants provided by the M4H Innovation Fund to 18 grantees in 22 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Additionally, the M4H facilitated 14 new partnerships between mobile network operators (MNOs) and humanitarian organisations, influencing policy processes in Uganda, Ghana, and Tunisia.
