Half of all new cars in China to be powered by AI by 2020
The National Development and Reform Commission in China is reportedly working on a draft national smart car strategy that aims, among other things, at ensuring that artificial intelligence (AI) technology will be implemented in at least half of the country’s new cars by 2020. Another objective is related to the deployment, across 90% of big cities and highways, of a wireless network to support smart vehicles. The commission also intends to establish a national team that would guide innovation in smart cars, and to encourage policies that would incentivise private investments in the field (such as tax cuts).
