HLPF 2019 side event on fostering digital transformation and global partnerships for SDG achievement
On 11 July 2019, a side event to United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF 2019) was held under the title ‘fostering digital transformation and global partnerships for SDG achievement’ by Saudi Arabia and the support of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), UN Group on the Information Society (UNGIS), and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) stakeholders. The side event, which aimed at aligning WSIS process with the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, showcased good practices at the national, regional, and international level in the field of digital transformation and global partnerships to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The event looked also at the WSIS-SDG matrix which underscores the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to achieve the SDGs. It also underlined the importance of cooperation to promote technological progress for everyone and across all regions.
