Huawei commits to ‘Made in Europe’ 5G for EU
On Tuesday February 5th, Chinese telecommunications vendor Huawei plans to build European manufacturing hubs for the technologies it provides. Huawei’s Abraham Liu, its top executive for Europe made the commitment at a Chinese New Year reception in Brussels. This follows a recent release of 5G guidelines by the EU commission to its member states for interacting with vendors deemed to be high-risk for the rollout of 5G networks in their countries. Liu acknowledged that the technology landscape cannot escape geopolitical and trade issues but urged Europe, the US and China to invest in discussion about more collaboration and common rules.
