Huawei connects 90 million people in a global initiative with ITU
During the 2023 Sustainability Forum, Huawei revealed this progress as a step in its larger pledge to connect 120 million people by 2025 through the ITU’s Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Coalition.
Huawei reaffirmed its dedication to the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Coalition, announcing the successful connectivity of 90 million people in remote regions across nearly 80 countries. The initiative focuses on fostering meaningful connectivity and digital transformation globally.
The update, part of Huawei’s commitment to bring digital access to around 120 million individuals by 2025, was revealed at the 2023 Sustainability Forum. The company’s collaboration with ITU extends beyond connectivity, including launching the ‘ITU Generation Connect Young Leadership Program,’ emphasising the mutual commitment to fostering digital inclusion and sustainable development worldwide.
Why does it matter?
Huawei actively engages in global partnerships. Alongside ITU, the company collaborates with UNIDO in the Global Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Industry and Manufacturing (AIM Global) to advance AI in manufacturing, focusing on inclusivity and sustainability. In September, Huawei and ITU signed a joint declaration in Bangkok, aligned with ITU’s ‘Connect 2030 Agenda’, to boost digital development in Thailand and the Asia-Pacific, focusing on critical areas like ICT policy, research, and inclusive infrastructure.
