Huawei to help Côte d’Ivoire boost the ICT sector
The Ivorian government and Chinese telecom operator Huawei have struck an agreement aimed at strengthening the ICT industry. Present at the deal signing in Abidjan on October 8 were Huawei’s Vice President for West Africa, Li Yungao, and Mamadou Sanogo, the Ivorian Minister of Digital Economy and Post.
Under this agreement, Huawei has committed to assisting Côte d’Ivoire in the design of its national digital economy strategy called “Côte d’Ivoire Numérique 2030” (Digital Côte d’Ivoire 2030). Huawei will also collaborate in the establishment of a broadband development strategy comprising of the carrying out of a study for the establishment of a normative framework for access to very high-speed broadband in the information society and assistance in promoting accessibility for people with disabilities for inclusive development of the digital economy. This MOU builds on an existing cooperation framework in place since November 28, 2016.
