ICANN constituencies give green light to the recommendations for improving ICANN’s accountability
The so-called supplemental final proposal outlining a set of recommendations meant to enhance ICANN’s accountability has received green light from the ICANN advisory committees and supporting organisations to move forward. Most of these constituencies said that they either approve or support the accountability proposal, as drafted by the cross-community working group. The Governmental Advisory Committees conveyed the message that it does not oppose to the proposal being transmitted to the ICANN Board of Directors (because of a series of concerns raised by some of its members over several recommendations related to the role of governments in the proposed ICANN environment). As a next step, the proposal will be submitted to the ICANN Board of Directors, which is expected to forward it to the US Government without delay, together with the stewardship final transition proposal.
