Indian President calls for gender financial inclusion
Indian President Ram Nath Kovind has urged banks to increase gender parity in ownership of financial assets, stating that women have better financial acumen. He was speaking during golden jubilee celebrations of the National Institute of Bank Management. The Indian government has social support programmes for the underprivileged. Some involve food rations while others give direct cash transfers. Studies support a combination of in kind support and cash transfers to women as they have been noted to set some of the money aside for savings.
