INTERPOL and UNCCT publish handbook for online counter-terrorism investigations
The International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) have jointly created a handbook titled ‘Using the Internet and Social Media for Counter-Terrorism Investigations’. The handbook aims to help law enforcement investigators collect, analyse and share online investigative leads and electronic records for successful prosecutions. It contains good practices and a list of practical online tools in three areas: understanding how terrorists have adapted the way they use the Internet and social; conducting an online counter-terrorism investigation; and requesting the preservation and collection of electronic evidence.
