IoT devices increasingly used for DDoS attacks
A research carried out by Symantec shows that Internet of Things (IoT) devices are increasingly used to carry out Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. According to the research, cybercriminals are hijacking home networks, routers, modems, CCTV systems, and industrial control systems to spread malware, and create zombie networks or botnets. More than half of the identified attacks originate from China and the USA; many attacks also come from Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine, and Vietnam (this information takes into account the location of Internet Protocol (IP) addressed used to launch the attacks).
