Israel to launch consortium focused on AI and gene editing
The Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) has approved the creation of a consortium aimed at integrating artificial intelligence and genome editing technologies. The consortium will focus on harnessing AI for developing advanced tools for genome editing, with increased efficiency and accuracy. Such tools are mainly intended to be used in the fields of medicine and agriculture. It will bring together private companies, universities, and research institutes in the country. As noted by IIA’s CEO Aharon Aharon, the overall goal behind the consortium is to ‘enable Israeli industry to be at the forefront of genome editing worldwide, while recruiting leading scientists and deploying innovative technologies developed in Israel’.
