Kaspersky publishes evidence on APT Lazarus Group
Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab has released a new report, Lazarus Under the Hood, detailing the modus operandi and malicious tools of the internationally infamous ‘Lazarus Group’. The cybercrime syndicate, thought to have been behind major incidents including the 2014 Sony hack and last year’s $81 million Bangladesh Central Bank heist, is described by the report as ‘one of the most successful in large scale operations against the financial industry’. Significantly, a Kaspersky researcher commented that this evidence is ‘the first time we have seen a direct connection’ between the Lazarus Group and North Korea, from where it is suspected to emanate.
