Kaspersky reports on a rise in attacks on IoT devices in 2019
According to Kaspersky report, there has been a rise in the number of attacks on IoT devices and applications in the first six months of 2019. In the first half of 2019, the study detected a total of more than 105 million attacks that originated with 276,000 unique IP addresses, whereas in 2018, 12 million attacks were detected originating with 69,000 IP addresses. According to the report, the three main malware families which were identified as the cause behind these attacks were Mirai, NyaDrop, and Gafgyt. The report also revealed a change in the source of the attacks. In 2019 China accounted for 30% of all attacks followed by Brazil with 19% and Egypt with 12%. A year ago, Brazil lead with 28%, China was second with 14% and Japan third with 11% percent.
