Lawsuit filed against Omegla for not protecting children online from paedophiles
A multimillion dollar lawsuit has been filed against chat site Omegla for encouraging children below 13 years to chat with strangers online. The victim in this case is an 11 year old girl who was forced to become a paedophile’s digital sex slave.
Omegle as a chat site randomly pairs up users for video and text chats and is available for children above 13 years. However, the lawsuit alleges that the site does not require users to verify their age or name before using it and there is no mechanism to prevent children being randomly matched with adults.
The lawsuit has claimed that Omegle is aware of the issue but is putting the onus on users to protect themselves from predators.
