Lawsuit regarding the IANA transition dropped
The lawsuit filed in late September by four US states’ attorneys general against the US government, over the IANA stewardship transition, was dropped: on 14 October, the plaintiffs filed a notice of voluntary dismissal. On 30 October, the judge appointed to handle the case dismissed the attorneys’ general request for a temporary restraining order that would have forced the US government to extend the IANA functions contract with ICANN. Although the contract expired on 1 October, some argued that the lawsuit was still valid and could continue. With the submission of the notice of voluntary dismissal, this is now no longer the case.
