Meta announces AI supercomputer
Meta has announced it is working on an AI Research SuperCluster (RSC), to be fully built out by the middle of 2022. Described as one of the world’s fastest artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer, RSC is intended to help the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) researchers ‘build better AI models that can learn from trillions of examples; work across hundreds of different languages; seamlessly analyze text, images and video together; develop new augmented reality tools and more’. The supercomputer would also support the development of technologies for the metaverse.
Recently, Meta has made public another milestone in its AI work: the data2vec self-supervised algorithm ‘that learns the same way in multiple modalities, including speech, vision and text’.
