Meta has identified over 400 malicious apps
Meta identified over 400 malicious Android and IOS apps in 2022. It was found that they have been targeting internet users by appearing to be, among other things, VPN services or business apps, whilst stealing Facebook credentials.
According to a report published by Meta, more than 400 malicious Android and IOS apps have been identified in 2022. These apps are found to target internet users and steal their Facebook credentials. The apps were listed on Google Play and the App Store and appeared as photo editors, games, VPN services, and business apps, among others. Meta reported these malicious apps to Google and Apple and they have been taken down, while users have been advised to double-check the apps they download.
