NATO Defense Ministers will discuss an update of security requirements for civilian telecommunications
Before the meeting of the NATO Defense Ministers, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said there is a need to update the baseline requirements for resilience and security of Allies’ telecommunications systems. He reminded that civilian infrastructure is a national responsibility and Allies have to have reliable telecommunications systems, including for 5G, in peacetime, crisis and conflict.
Allies are supposed to conduct a risk assessment of cyberthreats to communication systems, as well as implications of foreign ownership, control and investment.
