Nearly 10000 Microsoft customers targeted by state cyber-attacks in 2018
Nearly 10000 Microsoft customers had been targeted or compromised by nation state cyber-attack in the past year, the company revealed. According to the data by the Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center, the majority of nation state activity originated from actors operating in Iran (Holmium and Mercury), North Korea (Thallium) and Russia (Yttrim and Strontium). This data shows that nation-states continue to use cyber-attacks to gain intelligence, influence geopolitics or attack the democratic process, Microsoft concluded.
