Norway attributed the 2018 cyberattack on the government’s IT network to APT31 group
Norway’s Police Security Service (PST) said that according to the intelligence information, the APT31, China-linked cyber espionage group, acquired administrator rights and got access to centralized computer systems used by all state administration offices in 2018. It is not clear what particular information was exfiltrated, but the investigation has not revealed any signs that indicate hackers gained access to secret and sensitive information at the relevant offices.
Chinese Embassy in Norway condemned the PST’s claims and accused the PST of acting ‘irresponsibly’.
