Over 1 billion Yahoo accounts compromised
Yahoo reported that it had discovered another major breach into its systems, dating from 2013, which compromised over 1 billion accounts of its users. According to Yahoo, the attack was separate from the one discovered in September during which 500 million accounts were compromised. The compromised personal information include names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, hashed passwords, and a mix of encrypted and unencrypted security questions and answers, but not the unencrypted passwords, credit card numbers, or bank account information. This breach is considered the biggest known hack of user data ever. According to Wired, it is concerning that it took 3 years to discover such a large-scale incident.
