Pakistan: TikTok launches Urdu safety centre, upgrades child protection section
In the wake of being banned for the fourth time in Pakistan by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on complaints of “immoral, indecent, and inappropriate” content, TikTok has launched an Urdu-language safety centre. This initiative will ensure that the videos posted in the app are in line with the government guidelines. The safety centre will be the online source providing resources to users to help protect themselves and also tools that will enable them to edit content in line with the government’s instructions.
Further, TikTok has updated its information portal with specific sections on child protection, parental guidelines, protection against bullies, and suicide alerts.
