Privacy breach in credit monitoring agency leaves data of 37.000 Canadians compromised
Credit monitoring agency TransUnion confirmed that the personal data of 37.000 Canadians had been compromised, between June and July 2019. In a letter sent to affected consumers, TransUnion said the compromised information could include a person’s name, date of birth, current and former address, information on credit and loan obligations, and credit repayment history. According to BleepingComputer, an unauthorized person was able to gain access to a TransUnion Canada web portal and used it to pull consumer credit files, by using credentials stolen from a TransUnion customer who had access to the portal.
