Purdue University launches online AI master’s to fill industry skills gap
Purdue University is offering a new online Master of Science degree in AI.
Purdue University, based in Lafayette-Indiana, has launched a fully online Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, with two majors catering to AI builders and AI translators. The program targets professionals seeking robust training in machine learning, statistical methods, deep learning, and data science for building AI infrastructure (AI builders) or those in leadership and policymaking roles making informed decisions on AI adoption (AI translators).
The interdisciplinary program covers AI foundations, ethics, policy, and social implications, within which AI builders can delve into machine learning and data science. At the same time, AI translators can focus on applications in business, nonprofit, and public sectors, along with data management and analysis.
The program emphasises collaboration between leaders and technical experts to harness AI’s power, with a capstone course and diverse electives providing practical application and customisation options.
The initiative aims to address the reported AI skills gap, with over two-thirds of executives acknowledging the need for skilled personnel in the AI realm.
Developed and taught by renowned faculty researchers, Pardue’s online AI master courses are not the only educational programmes and initiatives educational institutions introduce.
