Report shows that critical infrastructures in Japan, South Korea, the US, Europe and several other Southeast Asian countries have been targeted by long-standing cyber-attacks
A report published by the security company Cyclane outlines the fact that critical infrastructures in Japan, South Korea, the US, Europe and several other Southeast Asian countries have been targeted by long-standing cyber-attacks since early 2010. The so-called ‘Operation Dust Storm’ has been targeting infrastructures in areas such as electricity generation, oil and natural gas, finance, transportation, and construction. The research conducted by the company also shows that the operation seems to be currently focused exclusively on critical infrastructures in Japan. According to media reports, the Japanese CERT has been alerted with regard to this threat, and is currently undertaking an investigation.
