Researchers detect spam campaign using malicious MS Publisher files to spread backdoors
Researchers at Bitdefender have identified a spam campaign targeted at stealing sensitive corporate information from medium and small-sized businesses. The emails involved in the campaign contain malicious Microsoft Publisher attachments, which, once opened, lead to the installation of backdoors into the victims’ computers. The backdoors allow attackers to control resources on the compromised computers. The malware can also memorise keystrokes to record passwords and usernames, steal login information from browsers or emails, view system data and take other intrusive actions.
