Rocket carrying Facebook’s satellite to provide connectivity explodes during pre-launch

A SpaceX rocket carrying a satellite that Facebook planned to use in its internet.org initiative exploded during a pre-launch test at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Facebook had planned to use some of the bandwidth on the satellite to provide internet to sub-Saharan Africa. It is unclear if the explosion will impact Facebook’s plan to offer connectivity across the globe, which also include the use of other technologies, such as Aquila, an unmanned, solar-powered plane.
