South Korea fined Google $32 million for blocking the growth of local rival app One Store Co.
South Korea fined Google $32 million for blocking the growth of local rival app One Store Co. marketplace, in the latest regulatory challenge. South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission (FTC) stated that Google Play’s offers to game companies pushed One Store Co. out, while Google’s share rose from 80% to 90%. This is not the first time where South Korea’s FTC fined Google, in 2021, FTC fined the company around $1 million ‘for obstructing other companies from developing rival versions of the Android operating system.’
