Sweden to receive QR code-enabled digital ID card
Swedes to receive new smartphone -enabled eIDs equipped with heightened security measures.
Bank ID, a subsidiary of Finsiell ID-Tecnik and Sweden’s e-ID service provider, announced the country’s latest development in the field of digital ID. With this updated version of the Swedish eID card, citizens can now activate their identity on their smartphones with their passports or national ID. The card can also be used at select merchants for authentication purposes. It is equipped with improved security measures, such as a blurring effect and sound when the eID picture is pressed on the screen. This action verifies the validity of the eID.
Bank ID and its parent company are owned by seven Scandinavian banks.
