Twitter FCO says Donald Trump’s ban is permanent
Twitter FCO announced Donald Trump’s ban will remain even if he runs for office in the future. The decision to bar Trump from the platform was based on the fact that he had violated Twitter’s Glorification of Violence policy twice in 2021. This policy aims to prevent the glorification of violence that could inspire individuals to replicate violent acts. The platform considered Trump’s tweets to be highly likely to encourage people to replicate the criminal acts that took place at the US Capitol in January. In addition, Twitter has considered that Trump’s statement that he would not attend President Joe Biden’s inauguration was received by a number of his supporters as a confirmation that the 2020 presidential election was not legitimate.
