UK: Cumbria police vow to protect children from online sexual abuse
In response to the rise in child sexual abuse online reported by UK’s National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Cumbria police have vowed to ensure the safety of children in the county and bring down the number of incidents. The county saw a total of 32 reports of such incidents in 2019.
Cumbria’s police and crime commissioner spoke of the initiatives taken to protect children, which includes establishing a cyber and digital crime unit to tackle cybercrime investigations and setting up child-focused policing teams.
