UK: Organisations to conform to the Children’s digital privacy code
The 12 month transition period offered to organisations to adhere to UKs age appropriate design code has come to an end.
From 2 September organisations have to conform to the set of standards laid out to safeguard children from being tracked or profiled, by minimising the data collected about children and offering child privacy options by default with maximum security. Companies who are likely to offer services to children below the age of 18 years have to make their entire service offerings compatible with the code. If found to default, companies can face fines of up to 4% of annual global turnover.
