UN Broadband Commission published The State of Broadband 2018 report
The UN Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development published its annual flagship report: The State of Broadband: Broadband catalyzing sustainable development in September 2018 which highlights the state and trends in broadband deployments around the world with annual country-by-country data on the state of broadband access. The report underpins several potential areas to advance progress in broadband at the national and international level including building national leadership for broadband, promoting training and measures to stimulate demand, reviewing universal service measures, strengthening digital skills and literacy, supporting local e-businesses and local entrepreneurship, adapting legal frameworks to take into account digitalization, and reducing taxes and import duties on ICT equipment and services. The report predicts that by end of 2018 active mobile broadband subscriptions would reach around 4.4 billion which will promote mobile digital economy.
