UN OEWG Secretariat issues call for PoC nomination
Member states are encouraged to submit their nominations by 15 April 2024.
The Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), which serves as the Secretariat of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) on ICT security, has issued a call for member states to nominate points of contact (POCs) to be included in the global, intergovernmental points of contact directory (POC directory) for the security of ICT.
Following the consensus adoption of General Assembly decision 78/541 ‘Open-ended working group on security of and in the use of information and communications technologies 2021-2025 established pursuant to General Assembly resolution 75/240’ on 22 December 2023, the Secretariat has begun the process of setting up the Global POC Directory as well as implementing the functions of the directory manager.
UNODA is currently taking steps to establish a password-protected website that will host and manage the directory on behalf of the Secretary-General. As part of this process, member states are invited to submit nominations of points of contact for inclusion in the directory. Nominations will be accepted on a rolling basis, but member states are encouraged to submit their nominations by 15 April 2024, ahead of the scheduled intersessional meetings of the OEWG in May 2024.
The nominations and accompanying information should be sent electronically via email to:
