US announces National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy
The strategy aims to build and enhance cybersecurity capability to meet current and future requirements.
The US government has announced the National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy (NCWES) to promote cyber literacy and meet the growing demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals in the country.
Developed along with different stakeholders, the objectives of the NCWES are to leverage adaptable ecosystems to effect change at scale, enable a lifelong development of cyber skills and grow and enhance the cyber workforce by improving its diversity and inclusion.
The approach NCWES aims to build foundational cyber skills among all Americans; transform cyber education by improving the cyber education systems, making them affordable for K-12 onwards; expand and enhance the National Cyber Workforce such as promoting skills-based hiring and strengthening the cybersecurity ecosystems; and strengthen the Federal Cyber Workforce.
The announcement also mentions that several stakeholders, including educators, industry, and government, have already announced their commitment to the NCWES through their initiatives.
