US federal government grants USD$800 million transportation contract to Uber and Lyft
The General Services Administration, the procurement body of the US federal government, has awarded Uber and Lyft a federal contract worth approximately USD$800 million to offer their ride-hail services to public officers and agencies over the next 5 years. This contract enables both companies to formally launch their services within public agencies and work with officials to promote their transportation service. It is estimated that the US government spends up to USD$200 million on the transportation of officers annually.
