USA appointment of amicus curiae for surveillance
The USA’s Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court has issued a Court Order Appointing an Amicus Curiae, Preston Burton. The Intercept article ‘Secret Surveillance Court Picks First Outsider To Get a Look In‘ explains that Burton will be the first ‘friend of the court’ to add an outsider’s perspective to the highly secretive process of approving surveillance requests from the government’, and adds commentary on Burton and the appointment.
